Wonder Veggies is revolutionizing a $1.5 billion global fresh produce market by developing the first-ever technology and liquid solutions for naturally enriching fresh vegetables and fruits with probiotics, creating the future of fresh produce. The company recently executed several MOU with leading growers worldwide and on its way to introducing the first probiotic vegetables and fruits to consumers, together with its partners growers, by the end of 2025.

We’re looking for a visionary creative, experienced, and hands-on Director of R&D to spearhead the company’s technological efforts, working closely with the CEO to transform our vision into reality. Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a forward-thinking technological roadmap that aligns with the company’s overall business strategy and drives innovation in the fresh produce, probiotics and food ingredients space.
• Development Plan: Transform the technological roadmap into a robust, dynamic development plan with clear timelines, budgets, and risk assessments to meet business and technological goals.
• Team Management: Lead, mentor, and inspire a multidisciplinary R&D team fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration,    and continuous learning.
• Hands-On Contribution: Actively engage in development efforts, ensuring high-quality outcomes and readiness to roll up your sleeves as needed in an early-stage startup.
• Stakeholder Communication: Articulate the technology strategy and capabilities to potential partners, investors, and other stakeholders, positioning the company as a leader in the foodtech space.
• Innovation and Growth: Drive strategic growth initiatives and ensure that the company remains at the forefront of technological advancements in food preservation.

Requirements

• Proven Experience: Extensive experience in a senior R&D leadership role within the foodtech or biotechnology industries, with a track record of successful product development from inception to completion, including manufacturing scale-up, documentation and regulation.
• Expertise and hands-on experience in developing foodtech ingredients in the space of foodtech and probiotics or foodtech and microbiology. Experience in developing liquid formulations is a plus.                    • Educational Background: M.Sc. or Ph.D. in microbiology, food engineering, nutritional sciences or biochemistry.
• Project Management: Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects, including timelines, budgets, resources, and risks.
• Leadership and Problem-Solving: Strong leadership skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity, solve problems creatively, and drive results in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Entrepreneurial Spirit: A resourceful, independent thinker with a can-do attitude, ready to make a significant impact in an early-stage startup.
