What Is The Role
As a BDR at Zencity, you’ll play a crucial role in driving our growth by identifying and creating new business opportunities. You’ll be the first point of contact for potential clients, responsible for building relationships with local government officials and guiding them through the early stages of the sales process. Your work will directly contribute to our mission of transforming how local government leaders build trust with their communities.
Responsibilities
- Identify and research potential clients within the local government sector, including city managers, mayors, and department heads - maintain growing SQL targets on a monthly basis.
- Conduct outreach through various channels (phone, email, LinkedIn) to generate interest in Zencity’s solutions.
- Collaborate with the sales team to develop and refine outreach strategies and ensure smooth handoff of qualified leads.
- Maintain and update CRM records, ensuring accurate tracking of lead activities and statuses.
- Convey product knowledge to potential clients, adhering to company messaging and positioning.
- Continuously stay up to date on the world of local government relevant to Zencity and send feedback back to product teams & client-facing teams.
- Be proactive, creative, outgoing, and persistent in contacting new customers and generating new business.
- 1-2 years of experience in a professional work environment (sales, business development, or customer-facing role is a plus)
- Willingness to work US hours
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate complex concepts in a clear and engaging manner.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with excellent time management skills.
- Proactive, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently or as part of a team to achieve and surpass goals.
- Great connector, able to start a conversation with everyone from all levels of management.
- A genuine interest in local government, public policy, or civic technology - an advantage.
