We’re seeking an energetic, engaging and experienced Social Media Manager to join the team as a full-time employee. The ideal candidate will be passionate about online information accuracy and countering online misinformation related to Israel in all social media channels.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Social Media Manager’s goals are to manage and scale an international team, increase HonestReporting's visibility to reach new audiences, and cultivate relationships with collaboration partners. Understanding the changing trends and policies of each platform is critical to the success of this position. The Social Media Manager will need to craft and implement a strategy for optimizing content that will engage people on each platform. The ideal candidate is highly organized, collaborative, excels at project management and time management, and knows how to manage people (up, down and laterally).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design and implement social media strategy to align with the organization’s goals and objectives. The social media strategy must incorporate media trends, industry trends, generational trends, and emerging platforms to optimize outreach efforts.
• Manage the Social Media department (content creators, video editors, external vendors, and partners spread out across the United States and Israel).
• Craft, script, film, edit, publish, and share engaging content daily (e.g. original text, photos, videos, and news).
• Collaborate with the research and editorial departments for ideas and content accuracy.
• Engage with the online community, responding to comments, messages, and mentions, as well as building relationships with influencers, organizations, and followers.
• Perform research on current benchmark trends and audience preferences.
• Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide regular reports on social media metrics.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Substantive understanding of HonestReporting's mission, the American Jewish experience, history of Israel, and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
• Experience as a social media manager or a similar role. Proven experience in managing people (5+ years).
• Excellent understanding of social media trends, algorithms, and best practices for X, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours.
• Strong news judgment - ability to recognize false narratives and produce a strong counter-narrative.
• Native understanding of American audience.
• Must be a native English speaker.
