Supply Chain Manager

Balena is looking for a Supply Chain Manager to join the Operations Team.

As a Supply Chain Manager, you will be responsible for designing, planning, executing, controlling, and overseeing supply chain activities. You will manage and lead the Supply Chain, Inventory Planning, and Logistics of the company, ensuring the effective execution of the supply chain strategy and the efficient management of daily operations

Balena is an innovative material science startup from Israel, founded in 2020. We focus on developing biodegradable and compostable thermoplastic materials for consumer goods products for various industries. Our flagship material, BioCir, is a durable, flexible, and fully compostable bio-material designed to replace traditional fossil fuel-based plastics​ with genuine circular material solutions.

Responsibilities

Planning

• Plan and forecast inventory needs based on sales and production forecasts.
• Develop and implement supply chain strategies to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Implement and leverage new tools and technologies to optimize the supply chain.

Procurement Management:

• Identify and evaluate potential suppliers.
• Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers.

Logistics Management:

• Oversee the logistics and transportation of goods including goods preparation, import and export
• Manage warehousing operations to ensure efficient storage and distribution of products.
• Develop and implement logistic process improvements

Inventory Control:

• Monitor inventory levels to prevent overstocking or stockouts.
• Implement inventory management systems and practices.
• Conduct regular inventory audits.

Collaboration:

• Work closely with other departments such as Sales and R&D to align supply chain activities with business and R&D goals.

Risk Management:

• Assess and mitigate risks in the supply chain, including disruptions and supplier issues.
• Develop plans to address potential supply chain disruptions.

Requirements

• Proven experience in supply chain management, logistics, or procurement.
• Experience in negotiating contracts and agreements with suppliers - an advantage
• Background in material Science - an advantage
• Experience in supply chain management within the plastic industry - an advantage
• Fluent English - a must
• Extensive proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Understanding of financial principles and ability to manage budgets and control costs.
• Understanding of relevant regulations and standards (e.g., import/export laws, safety regulations)
• Strong problem-solving skills to address supply chain issues effectively.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and build strong relationships with suppliers and stakeholders.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Most Important - Hands on mentality and agility to work in a startup environment
