Lead Software Developer

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and adaptable Lead Software Developer to join our team.

As the lead software developer, you will have a crucial role in defining and developing our software infrastructure.

You will collaborate closely with our product and data science teams to translate algorithms into dependable and scalable products.

This position calls for a strategic thinker with a hands-on approach, who is enthusiastic about building a team and leading the software development process.

Key Responsibilities

From the ground up, our capabilities enable us to provide valuable insights to various stakeholders in the agricultural food industry.

You will be responsible for designing and building the system that will deliver these insights to our customers.

This includes the core backend, data, cloud infrastructure, as well as frontend with external support.

Tech owner - Validate the current tech stack and develop the future (Python, Node.js, AWS, Airflow, K8s, etc.) to serve as the backbone of the platform, both internally and externally.

Team Building - Once off the ground, recruit, hire, and mentor additional software engineers as needs arise.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Proven Experience: 5+ years of experience in software development, with a strong background in back-end development from

inception to production.

• Technical Proficiency: Proficient in one or more programming languages (Python, TS).

• Cloud Expertise: Hands-on experience with cloud services (preferably AWS).

• Product Mindset: Ability to think beyond code and consider the broader product and system implications.

• Data Engineering Knowledge: Familiarity with DBs (Postgress, Athena), ETL processes, and data pipelines.

• Problem-solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-

technical stakeholders.

• Educational Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leading teams, with a demonstrated ability to hire, mentor, and develop junior engineers.

• Experience working in a start-up environment.

• Full-Stack Development: Familiarity with front-end technologies and frameworks.

• DevOps Practices: Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, K8s.

• Experience with Agile development methodologies.
