As the first Business Development Manager at Celery and one of the first employees, you will play a critical role in driving sales and building our revenue generation engine. You will work directly with the CEO, with significant potential for personal and professional growth.
Your performance will be measured by scheduled meetings, opportunities generated, and deals closed. You will also develop our go-to-market strategy and establish a strong sales team and client base. Your success will directly contribute to Celery’s overall growth.
🎯 Responsibilities and Impact
- Manage the entire sales process from initial outreach to deal closing.
- Generate quality sales opportunities through strategic prospecting and networking, including creating and executing a multi-faceted prospecting plan through research, outreach (calling and email), and leveraging personal networks. Proactively reach out to new prospects across various channels, establishing connections with C-level executives.
- Secure and participate in meetings by writing context-based and hyper-personalized messaging. Spend significant time calling, emailing, and using LinkedIn to create new opportunities.
- Conduct product demos with finance teams, understanding their pain points and identifying solutions.
- Meet and exceed sales targets (e.g., number of sales qualified opportunities, deals closed).
- Research target industries and companies to understand their needs and pain points.
- Utilize CRM/sales tools to track and manage lead progression.
- Work closely with the founding team to ensure a smooth customer journey from interest to deal closing.
🛠 Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in economics, accounting, business, or equivalent.
- Proven track record in sales or business development, with at least one year of experience.
- Fluent in English.
- Knowledge of finance and accounting is preferred but not required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport, establish relationships with potential clients, and conduct sales meetings.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Excellent presentation skills, able to communicate complex concepts clearly.
- Self-motivated and target-driven, eager to succeed in a fast-paced environment.
- Tech-savvy, quick to learn new tools.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of the financial industry and financial automation solutions is a plus.
- Curious, energetic, intelligent, and a team player.
🚀 Preferred Qualifications
- Accounting/audit background and/or CPA certification is a big advantage.
- Knowledge of cold calling & email strategies, including deliverability solutions (e.g., Clay, Smartlead).
- Experience in B2B sales to the CFO suite.
