We’re looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Lead Engineer to join our team with responsibilities and requirements as follows.

Responsibilities & Outcomes:

The Lead Engineer is responsible for the architecture of the company’s software offerings, working with the infrastructure team to ensure it can be successfully delivered, as well as auditing the work done by the development team. Even though they are involved in planning project timelines and assigning responsibilities, the tech lead is more a technical role than management. Unlike higher-level managers, they remain hands-on with the code and devote a good deal of time to programming and solving technical problems that they and other colleagues have. They are a leader to teammates and a mentor for new members. They are responsible for keeping the team’s momentum up and help to find answers to questions which impact the team’s productivity and morale. The Tech Lead is expected to stay up to date with current best practices and new developments within the development stack. 

The Lead Engineer also (but secondarily) has the job responsibilities of a Lead Full-Stack Developer - implementing technical specifications according to the best-practice guidelines. He will be competent and confident with relevant technologies. 

• Take responsibility for the system architecture. Provide guidance to other software engineers in designing components to ensure different pieces fit together.
• Implement critical system components, especially those which require in-depth knowledge of the system and good programming skills.
• Assist in preparation of release versions of software.
• Provide leadership and guidance around best practices and coding standard.
• Code entering development, master and production branches are high-quality, free of errors and adhere to set standards.
• The long-term longevity and quality of code is maintained, with non-customer-related requirements being included in the development of the products. 
• Help in planning project timelines and assigning responsibilities to teammates based on their skills and current workload.
• Help finding the right tools to get the job done. Ensure that our technology stack is up-to-date with current industry standards.
• Coach other team members, encourage them to learn new technologies and keep them motivated by assigning them challenging tasks.
• Help interviewing software engineers by evaluating their programming skills and culture.
• Represent developers in front of management. Help in negotiating a reasonable project timeline. Ensure technical specs are clear, understood by everyone and they contain a good level of details.
• Promote FinOps best practices
• Adhering to ISO/IEC 27001, international standard about Information Security Management System.

Requirements:

Compulsory: 

• A Master or Doctor degree in Engineering, Computer Science or similar relevant field
• ​​8+ years in a technical role with 6+ years of Node.js experience and 4+ years with MongoDB.
• Has worked on at least one large scale Node.js project
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, including deployment, scalability, and management of cloud-based applications
• Has worked with websockets
• Has experience with restructuring monolithic applications into micro services
• Highly familiar with functional programming aspects of JavaScript
• Familiarity with reactive programming concepts
• Practical experience with Kafka and ActiveMQ or RabbitMQ
• Knows how to use TypeScript in a functional programming way
• Linux/Mac development environment (because of tooling)
• Extensive industry knowledge with an eye towards leveraging AI development
• Confidence in strategic thinking and decision making
• Excellent leadership, team building, interpersonal and management skills
• Exceptional organizational and priority & time management skills
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
• Strong attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills
• Fluent in English - effective written and oral communication
