Applied Scientist – Microsoft Defender for Endpoint

Our team is responsible for developing and deploying ML models that protect organizations worldwide by not only detecting malicious cyber-attacks but also driving actions autonomously disrupting attackers at machine speed.

We are seeking a talented Applied Scientist with excellent technical skills and a desire to make significant impact through data and research. A successful candidate will be self-directed, generate novel ideas, plan, experiment, implement and ship to production efficient Machine Learning and AI solutions.

Responsibilities

• Develop ML models to detect and disrupt cyber-attacks.
• Stay informed about the latest advancements in Machine Learning, including Large Language Models, Graph Neural Networks and Anomaly Detection, and apply these to complex cybersecurity challenges.
• Collaborate with security experts to integrate their knowledge into ML models.
• Work with truly Big Data sources to distil data for training of ML models.
• Integrate your ML models with production systems, follow the results and iterate.
  
  

Qualifications

• M.Sc./PhD in Computer Science (or equivalent)
• Have 2+ years of Machine Learning experience (or PhD graduate)
• Highly hands-on in Software Development
• Capable of driving challenging projects from an idea to production
• Ability to learn new technologies quickly and independently
• Great people skills, teamwork, and collaboration
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Cyber security background and keen interest (big plus)
• Publications of AI-related research
• Industry/Research experience with LLM fine-tunning, Anomaly Detection, graphical methods
• Software development in C#/Java/C++
