Hands-on R&D Director

A successful cybersecurity startup that developed a DevSecOps platform for the automotive industry, is looking for an experienced and highly skilled hands-on R&D Director to act as a no 2 to the VP R&D. the right person for this position will be with strong back end experience, especially with node.js, have strong DevOps and architectural knowledge, and come from managerial positions in startup companies.

This is a hybrid position, working twice a week from the office in Jerusalem.

In this position you will:

• the architectural design and decision-making process in the entire software development lifecycle, from ideation and design to implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
• as a full team member in hands-on coding
• deep expertise in Node.js, using it to build efficient, secure, and scalable server-side applications, APIs, and services
• up-to-date with the latest advancements in Node.js and related technologies, evaluating and integrating new tools and frameworks where appropriate
• the security of React / Node.js applications and implement measures to protect against potential vulnerabilities.
• R&D resources and timelines effectively, ensuring projects are delivered on schedule and within constraints
• effectively with cross-function teams, including product managers, designers, and other developers, to drive successful project outcomes
• the performance and scalability of Node.js applications, identifying bottlenecks and implementing solutions for improved efficiency

What You Need For The Role:

• track record of leadership in research and development, with a minimum of 8-10 years ofhands-on experience in developing (from cybersecurity or automotive industries – a plus)
• proficiency in Node.js, JavaScript, and related frameworks (e.g., Express.js) is essential
• experience in architecting and designing scalable, distributed systems
• understanding of front-end technologies, including HTML, CSS, and React
• proficiency in PostgreSQL, its integration with Node.js applications, and performance optimizations
• with deployment to both Azure and AWS, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker) for efficient application deployment
• experience in writing unit tests, integration tests, and end-to-end tests for Node.js applications
• analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify and resolve complex technical challenges with the ability to translate complex ideas and technologies into actionable plans
• management experience
• to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt quickly to changing priorities and business needs.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field - a plus
