Data Scientist, Product, Growth and Notifications

Minimum qualifications:

• Master's degree in Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 1 year of experience with statistical data analysis, data mining, and querying (e.g., SQL).
• 1 year of experience with coding in Python or R.
• Experience with statistical data analysis and experimental design.
• Experience using analytics to solve product or business problems, statistical modeling and creating dashboards.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
• 1 year of experience in scripting or statistical analysis (e.g., R, Stata, SPSS, SAS).
• 1 year of experience developing and managing metrics or evaluating programs/products.
• Experience in translating analysis results into business recommendations and business questions into an analysis framework.
• Good written and verbal communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.

The Growth and Notifications Team (GaNT) Analytics is all about data, quality, and teamwork. Engineers work side by side with analysts and product in a collaborative atmosphere to build products that affect users.The GaNT Analytics Team works to shape the future of growth and notifications across Google’s products like YouTube, Photos, and Maps through developing a deep understanding of what drives growth and engagement across the Google ecosystem. Specifically, we look at problems like: What are signals for notification satisfaction or harm? What information is most useful to users on new devices, and much more.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to understand their business needs, formulate and complete end-to-end analysis (data gathering, analysis, scaled deliverables), and share results and recommendations with stakeholders.
• Own the process of gathering, extracting, and compiling data across sources via relevant tools (e.g., SQL, R, Python). Format, re-structure, and validate data to ensure quality.
• Develop and automate reports, iteratively build and prototype dashboards to provide insights at scale, solving for analytical needs.
• Define and evaluate experiments within the team and across Google with collaborators.
