Job Description- Post doctoral

The Marine Invertebrates laboratory at the National Institute of Oceanography in Haifa, Israel, is offering two postdoctoral positions. These positions, each lasting up to 4 years, are supported by the approved European Community grant #BLUES (Bioprocesses for metabolite production from marine invertebrate cell lines), a consortium of 9 partners.

The main focus of the postdoctoral roles is the development of primary cultures and cell lines from corals and tunicates. These efforts are part of a broader initiative to create chassis cells from marine invertebrates, employing cutting-edge methodologies such as specific scaffolds, cell fusions, the incorporation of microbiota, -omics, and more. All activities will be closely coordinated with partner laboratories working on the development of cell cultures in sponges and echinoderms.

Background and skills

• A PhD (or a PhD submitted) in a relevant scientific discipline.
• Approved work with cells/cell lines (human, mammalian, fish, etc.). Preferably- marine invertebrates
• Knowledge in cell biology
• Preferably experience with marine invertebrates.
• Highly motivated personality.
• Proven ability to work independently and efficiently.
