Mechanical Engineering Manager

Bluebird Aero systems is a leader in the design and production of advanced, tactical UAVs. We are hiring a Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead the conceptualization, design, and documentation of our cutting-edge products.

The chosen candidate will have overall professional and managerial responsibility for the mechanical design of UAV components, assemblies, peripheral equipment, and production jigs.

The position also includes provision of Engineering support to our production and integration teams, overseeing NPI processes, approving design changes and managing third-party vendors.  

The ideal candidate must be proficient in SolidWorks 3D modeling and FEA simulation and analysis tools (such as MATLAB) and have proven experience taking a design from conceptualization through to manufacturing. He or she will ensure that project/department milestones and goals are met and adhere to approved budgets, and that all designs are delivered with complete documentation.

Additional Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in mechanical engineering.
• 10 years of mechanical engineering experience.
• At least 3 years of engineering management experience.
• Previous experience from the UAV sector is a significant advantage.
• Experience working with Composite Materials.  
• Process oriented, analytical thinking – problem solver.
• Exceptional project and people management skills.
• Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.
• Highly organized – excellent follow through and follow up skills.
• Results and delivery oriented.
• Ability to multi-task and manage resource demands across multiple projects.
