About us

Vegan Friendly is a non-profit organization aiming to save animals lives and fight climate change by increasing the awareness of veganism and making the vegan lifestyle more accessible.

About the team:

The organization's technology team was established in 2020.

The team consists of members in these fields: Mobile Development, Web Development, Infrastructure and Security consultancy, QA, IT, and Product Management. The team is working on international projects, with an intention to expand and have a few more members until the end of 2024.

About the role:

As the CTO at Vegan friendly, you will be in charge of the technological field and projects by establishing the organization's technology vision, strategies, and plans for growth. You will manage our technology team and report directly to the CEO.

Responsibilities:

• Managing the tech team at Vegan Friendly, streamlining work processes and removing any obstacles in the workflow.
• Developing the organization's strategy of using technological resources. 
• Ensuring technologies are used efficiently and securely.
• Evaluating and implementing new systems and infrastructure.
• Implementing services and products for the use of our users.
• Managing, supervising and mentoring the volunteer team members.
• Recruiting new team members.

About you:

The ideal CTO will be a tech-savvy person and a people’s person with experience in development and management.

Requirements:

• High motivation to promote sustainability, animal rights and a vegan lifestyle.
• BSc. in Computer Science / Software Engineering / Computer Engineering or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
• At least 3 years of experience as a Full Stack software engineer, highly skilled in both frontend and backend technologies. 
• At least 1 year of proven experience in managing and leading a team, preferably a technology team.
• Familiarity with managing Linux server and cloud platforms (Azure / AWS)
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Detail-oriented and high organizational skills.
• Self-driven and multitasking - excellent performance under pressure and multiple tasks.
• Ability to have an in-depth and wide view of technologies and identify their potential in the nonprofit world.
• Fluent English (and Hebrew) is a must!

This is a Full-time position, based in Tel Aviv, Israel
