Data Team Lead

Combining computer vision, deep learning and augmented reality technologies with existing onboard sensors, the company enhances situational awareness of crews onboard, reduces sensory information overload and enables better navigation decisions. Data received from the ships is displayed on a dashboard in the office, giving fleet managers and ships owners visibility and actionable insights at both the ship and fleet levels, which enhance fleets' safety and reduce potential safety events.

About The Position

We’re looking for an exceptional Data Team Lead to lead our data analytics team and transform the shipping industry. As Data Team Lead, you will be a major focal point in the company, lead a team of data professionals and work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure data-driven decision-making and impactful insights.

Responsibilities:

• Provide strong leadership and mentorship to a team of data analysts and data engineers by setting clear goals, providing regular feedback, and ensuring the team's professional growth and development
• Own the data in the company end to end and be responsible for its’ accuracy and integrity
• Work closely with the product team to lead the research, analysis and development of new features of one of our flagship products - the Fleet Safety Dashboard
• Lead the analysis of complex datasets to extract valuable insights, trends, patterns and anomalies that drive strategic decisions, both internally and externally
• Present findings and actionable insights to senior management and cross-functional teams
• Lead the building and upgrade of existing data infrastructure to cope with performance, scalability, and growth

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in data analysis, with 1+ years of experience in a leadership or managerial role
• Programming knowledge in Python or similar, strong SQL skills
• Proven experience in managing and leading data teams
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical personas
• Experience working with cloud-based data warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Databricks
• Experience designing and implementing data pipelines
• Experience with working with ELT tools
• Experience with SQL databases
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Excited about owning the data in the company
• Bonus: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field
