Data Team Lead

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on Data Team Lead to lead the Group’s data team. The role combines people management and mentoring with hands-on development and ownership of reliable data infrastructure that supports decision-making across inventory, in-store and online sales, customer loyalty, and marketing.

You will work closely with the CTO to develop our Azure data platform and build the data infrastructure for AI-powered capabilities within F54 AI Labs.

Key Responsibilities

• Data team leadership: Manage, mentor, and support the professional growth of data engineers, establish technical standards, lead by example, and support hiring and onboarding.
• Data and BI platform ownership: Own the platform’s architecture, technology selection, and roadmap.
• Hands-on development: Design and build ETL/ELT pipelines integrating data from systems across the organization.
• Quality, performance, and operations: Ensure data quality and consistency, implement testing and CI/CD, monitor data pipelines, troubleshoot issues, optimize performance, and manage cloud costs efficiently using FinOps practices.
• AI-assisted development: Integrate AI tools and agents into the team’s workflows to accelerate development, improve the accuracy of data analysis, and maintain consistent metric definitions.
• Data infrastructure for AI: Build data infrastructure for AI applications in collaboration with the engineering team.
• Stakeholder planning and prioritization: Understand the needs of Merchandising, Marketing, Digital, Finance, and Operations teams, prioritize work, and manage execution through delivery.

What We’re Looking For

• At least 6 years of experience in Data Engineering or BI, including recent hands-on development experience, and at least 3 years of experience leading and managing a Data or BI team.
• Proven experience leading data platforms, including defining roadmaps, making architectural decisions, and scaling platforms to meet growing data volumes and evolving business needs.
• Strong SQL and Python skills, with hands-on experience in data quality testing, CI/CD, and observability.
• Hands-on experience with Qlik and Azure-based BI solutions.
• A deep understanding of dimensional modeling, data warehouses (DWH), and semantic layers.
• Proven experience using GenAI tools and AI-assisted development tools, such as Claude Code, in daily workflows.
• A hands-on approach and strong business understanding: The ability to build solutions and solve problems independently, understand organizational needs, and collaborate effectively with teams and business stakeholders.
• High proficiency in Hebrew and English.
• Experience in retail or e-commerce—an advantage.
• Experience with Databricks and/or Snowflake, as well as modern data processing and transformation tools—an advantage.
• Experience building data infrastructure for LLM or RAG applications—an advantage.
