PhD/Post-Doc researcher

A PhD/Post-Doc position has opened in my new Quantum Materials Laboratory at Ben-Gurion University. My lab is working on novel superconducting, magnetic and topological materials which show extraordinary phenomena at ultra low temperatures and high magnetic fields. We synthesize are own materials via high temperature growth techniques including Flux and CVT, enabling us to control and manipulate the experiment in an intimate way. My brand new growth and measurement laboratories are equipped with state of the art cryogenic systems which allow us to perform various condensed matter experiments. Moreover, work in the nanofabrication facilities is done extensively in order to fabricate nanostructures and different devices for our experiments.

Responsibilities

The PhD/Post-Doc candidate will lead several projects in the lab which includes: full synthesis of new/known compounds, full structural and elemental characterization of the compound, performing cryogenic experiments on the compounds such as transport/heat capacity/magnetization, nano-fabrication of devices via focused ion beam and electron beam lithography, full analysis of measured results and writing manuscripts for publication.

Qualifications

Hold a master's/PhD degree (or about to finish) preferably in physics, alternatively in Electrical/Material Engineering or Chemistry • Have a strong background in solid state physics • Experimental abilities = good hands • Have a previous experience with LabView or Python for the management and control of experimental equipment • Demonstrate proficiency in English (Hebrew – as an advantage) and must be enthusiastic, creative, and self-motivated
