Elementary Learning Support Teacher

POSITION OBJECTIVE(S): Provides a range of learning support in grades K-5, manages student support cases, coordinates and provides an effective and efficient system of Learning Support Services designed to meet the needs of assigned students, writes and maintains Individual Learning Plans (ILPs), and effectively integrates students into the least restrictive environment. The role also involves bringing evidence-based practices into classrooms by working with and supporting teachers and administration to increase student engagement, improve student achievement, and build teacher capacity using tiered intervention strategies.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Integrates best practices, research, and special education laws to provide effective education for students with diverse learning needs.
Demonstrates knowledge of students' intellectual, social, emotional, and cultural characteristics, as well as their learning styles and family context.
Acts as a liaison for successful transitions between schools or classrooms.
Uses assessment data to develop ILP/504
Plans and collaborates with counselors, support teams, and community resources to ensure appropriate services.
Works with teachers to design and modify classroom activities, materials, and strategies to meet students' academic and developmental needs.
Assists in coordinating assessments, including language, behavior, and cognitive skills.
Collaborates with the Student Support Team (SST), attends meetings, and communicates with parents and professionals to determine the best assessment tools, interpret findings, and assess student progress.
Supports teachers in implementing curriculum and assessments, fostering strong relationships with colleagues and administrators.
Collaborates to create schedules and helps teachers align with the WBAIS mission and core values.
Provides technical support and resources to enhance classroom instruction and planning.
Assists with lesson planning, pacing, differentiation, and selecting best practices to meet student needs.
Shares instructional strategies and supports data-driven instruction to improve teaching.
Develops staff skills through targeted professional development and contributes to systems that enhance teacher practice.
Provides job-embedded learning beyond formal coaching.

Certification in a specific teaching area, at least 5 years of teaching experience, and a proven track record of improving student achievement, particularly with high-needs students
Working with students with varying levels of English language fluency
Collaborating in a co-teaching model
Teaching in an international school setting
Contributing to student experiences beyond the classroom (such as after-school activities, evening events, and community gatherings.)
