Assistant Controller

OurCrowd is looking for an Assistant Controller to join their Finance team. This role is focused on core accounting operations, financial data integrity, and supporting the company’s reporting and closing processes.This is a unique opportunity to build a strong foundation in accounting within the venture capital and alternative investments space. It’s a hands-on role for someone early in their career, offering exposure to core accounting processes alongside financial systems, data flows, and cross-functional collaboration in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment.This is a hybrid position; three days in office. Our main office is in Jerusalem, with a second office in Tel Aviv.Requirements:Certified Public Accountant (CPA / רו"ח) certification required2+ years of relevant experience (internship experience acceptable) from a Big 4 firm - Deloitte, PwC, EY, or KPMGBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related fieldExcellent English communication skillsExperience in investment firms (VC, PE, hedge funds) or similar financial environments - preferredHigh attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy; Ability to manage large volumes of data in a structured and reliable mannerComfort handling repetitive tasks while maintaining focus and qualityStrong Excel skills (formulas, filtering, lookups, data validation)Analytical mindset with the ability to think logically about data and processesProactive and curious, comfortable asking questions and investigating issuesAbility to work independently while collaborating across teamsAdvantageHands-on use of AI and automation to streamline financial processes, reporting, or analysis – strong advantageFamiliarity with ERP systemsExposure to automation tools (Excel macros, SQL, BI tools, AI-based tools)Interest in financial systems and data workflowsResponsibilities:Accounting Operations & Close ProcessesSupport day-to-day accounting activities, including journal entries, account analysis, and reconciliationsAssist in monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processesPerform bank, balance sheet, and intercompany reconciliations, and investigate discrepanciesFinancial Data & ReportingMaintain accurate financial data across ERP systems and internal databasesSupport the preparation of financial reports and internal management reportingTrack and record investment-related transactions and cash flowsCross-Functional CollaborationWork closely with Finance, Operations, and Tech teams to ensure data consistency and integrityMaintain proper documentation and audit trails across financial processesSupport external audits and provide required documentationProcess Improvement & SystemsIdentify gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities to improve accounting processesSupport automation and optimization initiatives over timeBuild a strong understanding of how financial processes translate into system workflowsInterview Process:Phone interviewTake-home taskIn-person interview with VP of Finance (Controller may join this meeting or the following one)In-person interview with CFOIn-person interview with Director of HRReference checks
