Senior Backend Engineer

As a Senior Backend Engineer at Rekor, you will be designing, implementing, and supporting complex features in the reflection of performance, clean code, and high-quality deliveries.

You will be taking a significant part in a squad and working with Product and different R&D team members to deliver new features and capabilities that serve our business goals and come up with ways to improve our solutions on a high scale. You will help our clients make the best data-driven decisions to improve road safety.

You will work with a variety of languages and technologies such as Kotlin, Python, Kafka, Kinesis, Kubernetes and more. We encourage our team to take things end to end; from preliminary step of designing a solution, implement and deliver to production while build and monitor dashboards and metrics.

We’re looking for someone who enjoys teamwork but knows how to work independently as well.

Responsibilities:

Take a proactive role in the business-driven Squad and own your domain
Design, implement, test, deploy and monitor Backend infrastructure and business features
Maintain high-quality standards and write readable, testable, modular, and maintainable code
Build tools and processes to improve and accelerate our development life cycle, to take our road safety offering to the next level
Collaborate while sharing your knowledge with other team members throughout the R&D
REQUIREMENTS
5+ years of proven backend development experience in JVM environment / (Kotlin – Advantage)
Experience working with distributed, microservice based architectures
Deep knowledge and experience working with both RDBMS and NoSQL databases
Experience working with high data and traffic scales and tools, like: Redis, MongoDB, Kafka, Kinesis
Solid understanding of cloud services, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and Kubernetes – Advantage
Managerial experience leading a team or squad of at least 3 people - Advantage
