Position Overview

Cardo Systems is seeking a talented and proactive Backend Developer to join our engineering team.

In this role, you will design, build, and operate high-scale backend services that power a globally distributed platform connecting mobile applications, cloud services, and connected devices. Our systems handle real-time interactions and large volumes of data, requiring a strong focus on performance, reliability, and scalability.

You will work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment alongside backend engineers, mobile developers, product managers, and data teams to deliver end-to-end solutions for complex business and technical challenges.

As a Backend Developer, you will take ownership of features from design through production, contribute to architectural decisions, and continuously improve system reliability, performance, and developer experience.

Full-time position in a hybrid model (from the company’s offices in Ra’anana/from home).

Key Responsibilities

Backend Development & Architecture

Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs.
Build reliable distributed systems capable of supporting large-scale, real-time applications.
Contribute to architectural decisions and technology selection.
Optimize system performance, reliability, and operational efficiency.

Cloud Infrastructure & Operations

Develop and operate cloud-native services running on AWS.
Implement observability practices, including monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting.
Support production environments and troubleshoot complex issues.
Maintain secure, resilient, and highly available services.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with Product, Mobile, Data, and Engineering teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.
Collaborate on feature design, technical planning, and implementation.

Operational Excellence

Take ownership of features from design through deployment and monitoring.
Promote engineering best practices, code quality, and clean architecture principles.
Utilize AI-powered development tools and automation to improve productivity and software quality.

Requirements:

Experience

4+ years of experience in backend development, including at least 2 years of hands-on experience with Python.
Strong experience building and operating production systems on AWS.
Hands-on experience designing and implementing scalable distributed systems (microservices, REST APIs).
Experience working with NoSQL databases, preferably MongoDB.
Experience implementing observability practices using tools such as Grafana, Datadog, or similar.

Technical Skills

Strong understanding of backend design principles, system reliability, performance optimization, and clean architecture.
Ability to take full ownership of features end-to-end, from design through deployment and production monitoring.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex production issues.
Hands-on experience or a strong willingness to work with AI tools to boost engineering efficiency and code quality.

Advantages

Deep understanding of serverless computing, specifically AWS Lambda and the Serverless Framework.
Experience working with data platforms or collaborating closely with BI/Data teams.
Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
Familiarity with SQL databases and relational data modeling.
Experience working with additional cloud providers (GCP, Azure).
Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum/Kanban).
