We are seeking a highly motivated, diligent and talented Legal Counsel to join our growing team and contribute to our success.

Position Overview:

Our team daily navigates the abundant legal challenges of a fast paced company in a regulated evolving industry. And we’re looking for an all-around team playerteamplayer who is eager to learn a lot, work hard, and support our efforts.

As a legal counsel on the team you will play a key role in managing Balance’s legal risks in an efficient and business-driving manner.

You will work closely with senior legal team members, business and development teams, and external legal partners. Requirements:

3+ years of experience as a legal counsel with technology orientation, preferably in the fintech industry.
High ethical standards, responsible, and committed to integrity and discretion.
Self-motivated, highly organized and results-oriented, with a demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong understanding of commercial agreements and business interests, drafting skills, and the ability to communicate fluently in English with technical stakeholders.
Experience with significant regulatory compliance.
Excellent research and self-learning skills, including vast experience with researching foreign law and regulation, and conducting comparative analysis.
Attention and patience to details, willingness to meticulously dive in, as well as an analytical practical business-oriented problem-solving mindset, and a critical thinker.
Fantastic communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build, collaborate and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.
Excellent proficient English
Law degree (LL.B or equivalent).

Strong advantages:

Strong knowledge of the US legal system.
Significant experience with financial regulations.

Responsibilities:

Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, including for partnerships, vendor and services, SaaS licensing, data and confidentiality, in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
Conduct in-depth legal research and provide actionable advice, supporting product development and G2M initiatives, ensuring Balance’s compliance with legal standards (in financial regulation as well as other emerging needs).
Assist in handling corporate governance matters and relationships with regulatory authorities, including the preparation of board materials, corporate filings, reporting, due diligence, and other related meticulous documents.
Take part in designing and implementing internal policies and procedures to drive internal efficiency and user-friendly processes, and to ensure Balance’s compliance with applicable law and industry standards, and in advising internal teams on such matters.
Stay up-to-date with legal developments and industry trends that may affect Balance’s activity, proactively managing potential legal issues.
Collaborate with external legal counsel
Assist in supporting fundraising activities, M&A transactions, and other corporate matters, as Balance grows.
