Ledges mission is to reinvent how finance teams work by building AI agents that actually do the work, not just automate it. We began with an industry-leading reconciliation platform used by top finance teams.

We are now broadening our scope to develop a completely AI-native close management solution, built upon our strong existing platform that is already competitive with leading industry offerings. Our agents autonomously prepare, reconcile, validate, and manage the close end-to-end with finance-grade accuracy and transparency.

Were designing new tools for the Office of the CFO: a scalable, trustworthy data pipeline combined with autonomous AI workflows and a clean, consumer-grade experience.

As an AI-first engineering organization, we use modern microservices, full IaC, and advanced AI coding and development tooling to move fast and build real autonomy into the finance workflow.

About the role

Ledge is looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to help architect, build, and scale the systems that power our autonomous finance platform. In this role, you will lead key engineering initiatives, influence architectural decisions, and deliver high-impact features in a fast-moving environment.

You'll work closely with a top-tier team across engineering, product, and AI to build infrastructure and intelligent automation that transform how modern finance teams operate.

About you and your background:
Lead the design and development of core backend services and platform components.
Architect scalable, resilient, and secure systems to support Ledges growing automation and data workloads.
Drive technical decision-making, mentor team members, and uphold engineering excellence.
Develop new capabilities end-to-endfrom ideation, design, and POCs to implementation, testing, and production rollout.
Re-architect and modernize existing components to improve performance, reliability, and maintainability.

Build high-quality internal and external APIs used across the platform.

Participate in iterative development processes including code reviews, technical design sessions, and performance analysis.
Implement automated unit, integration, and load tests to ensure system quality.

Debug, troubleshoot, and optimize complex distributed systems.

Collaborate closely with AI and product teams to ship intelligent, automation-driven features.

Contribute to technical documentation, architectural diagrams, and design best practices.

Requirements

Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
5+ years of experience in backend or full-stack software engineering.

Strong proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript (or a willingness to transition quickly from another backend language such as Java).

Experience building production-grade distributed systems or microservices.

Hands-on experience developing RESTful APIs; experience with GraphQL is a plus.

Solid understanding of relational (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB).

Strong knowledge of system design, architecture, and software development best practices.

Experience building or integrating systems with significant data, automation, or workflow logic.

Ability to quickly adopt new technologies and work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with AI/LLM-powered systemsespecially building or orchestrating agents, automated workflows, or reasoning-based systems.

Experience with cloud environments (GCP preferred), event-driven architectures, or streaming technologies.

Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring/observability tools.
