About the Role:

The Search team builds Nimble's AI-native search infrastructure - the core engine that enables AI agents to access the web and retrieve structured, high-quality data at scale. This is one of the most critical and fast-moving areas of the product.

We're hiring a backend engineer to help design, build, and improve the systems that power it.

What You’ll be Doing:
Build and optimize the search pipeline end-to-end - from query processing and retrieval to ranking and structured output.
Own performance benchmarks and quality evals for the search system. Use data to drive continuous improvement in accuracy, latency, and coverage.
Design the backend infrastructure and APIs that power AI search for our customers.
Work closely with AI researchers and ML engineers to bring new capabilities from research to production.
Bring product sense - understand how customers use the search API and what they actually need.
What You Should Have for the Role:
8+ years of backend experience, with scale experience - you've built systems that serve real external users and know how to keep them running, gained at large-scale web companies or fast-growing, successful startups.
2+ years of hands-on experience in an agentic product team - you've shipped meaningful LLM-powered products in production, not just experimented.
Familiarity with modern search and retrieval patterns: web crawling, ranking, embedding-based retrieval, structured extraction.
Strong instincts for performance optimization, benchmarking, and data quality.
Distributed-systems experience: queues, caching, scalability, and reliability at scale.

Advantage

Experience with LLM-powered pipelines or agentic systems.
Familiarity with AI/ML concepts: embeddings, retrieval, model evaluation.
