We are looking for a talented Engineering Team Lead to lead a small, bright, and growing team of senior engineers as well as being hands-on and taking projects to the finish line.

This team is mostly responsible for delivering a delightful claims experience and optimized claims outcomes for our customers (drivers, fleets, and brokers) and internal stakeholders (for example, claims adjusters). Claims Experience is the most impactful insurance-related experience for our customers, and our ability to deliver a seamless and fair end-to-end experience is a critical component of our value proposition and our success in fulfilling our mission.

In addition to claims, the team lead will get involved in different and exciting cross-border projects, as well as support other product squads when needed.

A day in the life:
Lead the Claims engineering team, balancing hands-on vs leading, velocity vs. quality
End-to-end ownership of technical design, architecture, and implementation to deliver products on time
Guide team members and enabling growth paths aligned with their aspirations and organizational goals
Contribute to consistently raising the bar for engineering best practices
Work closely with leadership and recruiters to attract and hire A++ technical team members
Provide visibility into the status of development, quality, and system performance to leadership

What you will need:
7+ years of engineering experience, ideally with 3+ years of early-stage startup experience
2+ years of team leadership experience in early to middle-stage startups
Demonstrated ability and passion to hire and grow a team, including passive candidates
Comfortable working in a highly agile, intensely iterative software development process
Understanding of technologies and architecture in building highly scalable and available products
Experience with Python and common Python web frameworks like Flask and Django - a plus!
Experience with React or other modern Javascript web frameworks (NextJs, Vue, Angular)
Solid understanding of semantic html/css, browser, and core javascript/typescript fundamentals
Understanding of HTTP APIs, Message brokers, relational databases like Postgresql, and non-structured databases, like Casandra - a plus!
Working in containerized Linux environments in the cloud (we use AWS) - a plus!
Growth mindset, comfortable giving and receiving feedback
Proactive mindset to drive change, question assumptions and push for innovative solutions
Excellent verbal/written communication skills
Understanding Insurance, risk, and related technologies a plus
Excellent judgment, organizational, and problem-solving skills
