How you'll be impactful:
As the Director, Lifecycle Management, you will lead Barges' retention and re-engagement efforts across our consumer brands. You will be a high-impact leader responsible for the strategy, execution, and continuous optimization of the customer lifecycle using marketing automation, innovation, and in-product development to keep our users engaged and loyal. Leading a team of three Retention Managers, you will partner cross-functionally with Product, Data, and Creative to build and execute personalized customer journeys at scale.
What you'll be doing:
Strategy & Leadership:
Own and drive the retention strategy across our portfolio brands - from high-level roadmap to campaign-level execution.
Lead, mentor, and develop the Brand Retention Managers, setting clear responsibilities and tasks while fostering a culture of testing and learning.
Partner with executive leadership to define retention KPIs (LTV, churn rate, repeat purchase rate, reactivation rate) and report on performance.
Act as the internal authority on retention best practices, bringing external benchmarks and emerging trends into the organization.
Marketing Automation
Design, build, and optimize complex multi-step automation flows including onboarding, engagement nudges, win-back, loyalty, and VIP programs.
Oversee the full lifecycle of users with designated campaigns: segmentation, content briefing, build, QA, launch, and post-campaign analysis.
Define and govern the marketing automation architecture - ensuring flows are scalable, maintainable, and personalized.
Drive platform strategy for our marketing automation stack (Optimove); evaluate and onboard new tools as the business evolves.
Loyalty & Engagement:
Design and evolve loyalty programs, gamification mechanics, and stickiness features that drive habitual usage and long-term brand affinity.
Collaborate with Product teams to embed retention logic into in-app experiences, notifications, and feature rollouts.
Identify and prioritize high-value, high-potential cohorts, and design campaigns and promotions to drive their engagement.
Analytics & Optimization
Build a robust test-and-learn framework: A/B and multivariate testing across channels (email, push, in-app, SMS) and lifecycle stages.
Analyze behavioral data to identify churn signals early and respond with targeted interventions.
Present monthly/quarterly retention performance to senior stakeholders, with clear attribution and actionable recommendations.
What you'll need to be successful:
Experience:
8+ years of experience in retention, CRM, or lifecycle marketing, with a strong focus on marketing automation.
Proven track record designing and managing loyalty programs, re-engagement campaigns, and personalized lifecycle journeys that measurably improved LTV and reduced churn.
5+ years in a leadership role managing a team of retention or CRM professionals.
Background in subscription, marketplace, or consumer app businesses is a strong plus.
Technical Skills:
Deep expertise in marketing automation platforms - hands-on experience with Optimove is a significant advantage; experience with Braze, Iterable, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, or similar platforms is equally valued.
Proficiency in audience segmentation, dynamic content, and triggered messaging logic.
Strong analytical skills: comfortable working with data using BI tools such as Mixpanel, Amplitude, or similar, to derive insights and measure impact.
Familiarity with A/B testing methodology and statistical significance.
Soft Skills & Leadership
Strategic thinker who can translate business goals into actionable retention programs.
Excellent communicator - able to present complex data stories to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple brand roadmaps simultaneously.
Collaborative partner who builds strong cross-functional relationships with Product, Creative, Data, and Finance.
Nice to Have:
Experience in the spiritual, wellness, or entertainment verticals.
Experience with CRM campaigns in multiple languages beyond English.
