GM Israel R&D Labs is an applied research center focusing on creating and evaluating innovative concepts for future vehicles. Researchers at this center conduct independent research as well as collaborative projects with colleagues at GM, with academic and industrial partners, in Israel and abroad.

The AI Centered User Experience Technologies group is performing research, development and evaluation of new technologies, methodologies, and concepts for enhancing User Experience in GM vehicles. The group focuses on the interaction between humans and autonomous/semi-autonomous vehicles. This includes explainable AI, HMI for autonomous driving, behavior analysis (Driver’s cognitive state, situation awareness, workload assessment, etc.) for automotive HMI research and other UX emerging concepts.

What will YOU do:

Observe evolving trends, lead the generation and evaluation of innovative AI technologies and concepts.
Define and lead AI based research projects with multiple contributors (e.g. interns, contractors) and in collaboration with academy and industry partners.
Develop proof-of-concepts demonstrating technical plausibility towards a viable product.
Maintain an academic level measured by publications, patents and other external contributions
Develop and maintain a global network with key universities and labs; and GM-internal network of partners and stakeholders.

Additional Job Description

What are we looking for?

PhD or M.Sc. degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field.
Over 5 years of Industry experience in developing ML/ Deep Learning based models
Solid theoretical background in AI/ML
Strong proficiency in Python for developing ML models and algorithms.
Experience with Deep Learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.)
Publication record (papers/ patents/ reports)

It’s an advantage if you have:

Experience (academic or industry) in Human-Machine Interaction (HMI), Human Factors, UX research or related fields.
Experience developing and implementing generative AI models.
Knowledge of Big-data technologies (Spark, Kafka, MongoDB, Cassandra, etc.)
Proficiency in C++ for efficient implementation of algorithms
