About the Role

As DevOps Team Lead at Powtoon, you’ll play a pivotal role in maintaining, optimizing and scaling our cloud infrastructure. You’ll lead a small but mighty global DevOps team (currently 2 engineers), collaborate closely with R&D teams across Tel Aviv, Ukraine, and South America, and ensure the seamless deployment, performance, and security of our systems.

You’ll be both strategic and hands-on - guiding architectural decisions, driving automation and observability improvements, and enabling development velocity across the company.

Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage a globally distributed DevOps team, setting priorities and ensuring high-quality delivery at pace.
Own and evolve our cloud infrastructure (primarily AWS), focusing on scalability, performance, and cost-efficiency.
Manage IaC using Terraform (mainly), while continuously improving our CI/CD pipelines and environments.
Maintain and scale our Kubernetes-based workloads and services.
Improve system observability, alerting, and incident response processes.
Collaborate with engineering and product teams to support new feature rollouts, infrastructure changes, and platform reliability goals.
Ensure security best practices across infrastructure and deployments.
Evaluate and introduce new tools and technologies to stay ahead of the curve.

Requirements

5+ years of hands-on DevOps or SRE experience in cloud-native environments.
2+ years of experience leading or mentoring DevOps teams.
Deep experience with AWS infrastructure and services.
Proven expertise in Terraform, Kubernetes, and modern CI/CD practices (Bitbucket Pipelines, GitLab CI, or similar).
Strong scripting skills (e.g., Bash, Python).
Solid understanding of security, monitoring, and incident response in production environments.
Excellent communication skills and experience working with distributed teams.
Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, agile SaaS environment.
Fluent in English (Verbal and writing).
Ability to work on-site in Tel Aviv, Israel (hybrid work model available)

Nice to Have
Experience with cost optimization strategies on AWS.
Familiarity with service mesh, multi-region architecture, or edge/CDN infrastructure.
Background in video processing pipelines or media delivery (a big plus).
