The team & role

As part of Lightricks' Data Science group, the Data Science Team Lead (NLP/LLM) will spearhead the adoption of large language model (LLM) and vision-language model (VLM)- driven features. The team combines cutting-edge applied research with state-of-the-art machine learning solutions, including advanced prompt engineering, LLM fine-tuning, and optimization, to enhance user experience and business KPIs.

The role offers a rare opportunity to blend applied research and innovative product development while managing a team of highly skilled data scientists and collaborating with cross-functional teams, including engineering, ML infrastructure, and product management.
What you will be doing

ML Solutions Development

Lead the design and implementation of LLM/VLM-driven features across Lightricks' products to deliver magical and creative user experiences.

Track the latest advancements in the field, build and implement best practices such as LLM evaluation at scale, fine-tuning for creativity, quality, latency, and cost optimization.

Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and define new opportunities for NLP/LLM/VLM applications.

Guide and mentor researchers toward successful research and implementation of innovative techniques, leveraging user feedback and scientific evaluation.

Provide hands-on technical leadership, contributing to code and ensuring the delivery of high-quality ML-based solutions in a dynamic production environment.

Monitor and ensure the health, performance, and business impact of ML solutions, acting promptly when issues arise.

Team Management & Leadership

Manage and mentor a team of data scientists, fostering both their professional and personal development.

Stay abreast of cutting-edge breakthroughs in NLP/LLM and drive their adoption to improve products and processes.

Define and shape the ML roadmap, scaling and optimizing processes, tooling, and infrastructure.

Communicate progress, insights, and strategic recommendations to stakeholders across the organization.

Your skills and experience

M.Sc. or Ph.D. in a technical field (preferably Computer Science) from a top-tier university or equivalent experience.

Proven expertise in NLP, LLM, or VLM, with a track record of impactful solutions and research publications.

4+ years of meaningful industry experience in NLP/LLM/VLM, with at least 3 years in a leadership position.

Strong technical skills, including Python and SQL, with a deep understanding of large-scale data and online company environments.

Experience deploying machine learning models to production and mentoring team members toward impactful results.

Demonstrated ability to identify and leverage innovation opportunities in machine learning.
