This position is located in the United Nations Office of the Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process (UNSCO), in the integrated Resident Coordinator’s Office. Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Deputy Special Coordinator/Resident Coordinator/Humanitarian Coordinator and Chief of Coordination Unit and Head of the RCO, the Senior Development Coordination Officer – Crisis Management will provide the Resident Coordinator’s Office in Jerusalem management expertise, strategic and operational support to enable effective inter-agency collaboration, programming and coordination to deliver on development results in the current crisis, in support of the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF). The incumbent must be willing to redeploy to Gaza when conditions permit. This position is temporarily available for nine (9) months, with a possibility of extension. The incumbent will support the RCO and the UNCT with adapting its work and UNSDCF to the current crisis, as well as with planning for post-conflict recovery and other RCS corporate priorities, including through enhanced collaboration, cooperation and coordination with humanitarian action and peacebuilding efforts as well as through the provision of advice and recommendations for risk-informed and agile development support to implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in crisis contexts. The Senior Development Coordination Officer – Crisis Management works in close collaboration with the Regional Director, Resident Coordinator, and UNCT members, programme and operations teams of the agencies, UNDCO staff and government officials, technical advisors and experts, multi-lateral and bi-lateral donors and civil society. The Senior Development Coordination Officer – Crisis Management may be requested to perform other functions, as directed by the RC and Head of RCO. The Senior Development Coordination Officer – Crisis Management is expected to undertake frequent deployments across OPT.
