An innovative early-stage startup in the industrial automation and robotics domain is seeking a hands-on VP of R D / Head of Computer Vision to lead the development of advanced AI-based computer vision solutions.

Reporting directly to the CEO, this role is central to shaping both the product roadmap and the R D organization. You will lead a highly skilled team (currently 5 engineers, with planned growth to 10), remain deeply involved in the codebase, and drive key architectural and technical decisions hands-on.

The company works closely with leading global players across medical devices, defense, automotive, and electronics industries, delivering robust and scalable vision-based software solutions

Requirements:
Proven experience building, mentoring, and scaling small, high-performing R D teams

Deep expertise in computer vision, AI, algorithms, and software architecture

Strong hands-on technical leadership with a passion for coding and problem-solving

Background in developing software for industrial environments (medical, defense, automotive, electronics, or similar)

Startup-oriented mindset: proactive, adaptable, and comfortable in fast-paced, evolving environments

B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Engineering

7+ years of progressive experience in R D and technical leadership roles
