Engineering team is looking for an Engineering Manager to join our Telco engineering group. In this role, you will be responsible for growing and leading a geographically distributed team of engineers responsible for leading the development of industry leading features enabling the Telco 5G partner ecosystem on OpenShift for 5G telecommunication companies globally.
You and your team will collaborate with multiple engineering, business, and solution architecture teams, as well as strategic partners and open source communities around the globe.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have motivation, curiosity, passion for problem solving, and experience with Telecom infrastructure, container technologies, and leadership in open source development.
You'll need to be able to effectively manage the balance between business priorities and the team capacity, embracing and amplifying the core values of freedom, courage, commitment, and accountability.
Primary Job Responsibilities
Grow and lead a high performance team of engineers to deliver on the telco engineering platform objectives.
Work with product managers, partners and other teams to ensure priority alignment, consistent quality of interactions and effective collaboration
Coordinate with cross-functional managers and teams on documentation, product management, support, and quality engineering (QE) to coordinate tasks necessary for certifying and maintaining enterprise-quality software
Proactively direct the team for continuous improvement in a rapidly changing environment
Champion your team during tight schedules, aggressive deadlines, and ever changing priorities
Collaborate and publicize the team's work through blogs, web postings, or conference talks
Coordinate knowledge sharing within and outside the company
Lead all associates in managing their careers and growth

5 years of experience in system engineering, Telecom software development, or in a related field
3 years of experience managing software development, system, or integration engineers
Familiarity with deploying infrastructure and applications with container-related technologies like Kubernetes, cri-o, or etcd
Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent working experience
Proficiency in Linux operation and administration
Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
Experience working within an agile development framework
Understanding of open source development models, partner and community interactions
Flexibility to work with a widely distributed and remote team
Ability to handle multiple priorities and balance multiple schedules
The following are considered a plus:
Experience contributing to open source communities
3 years of experience working in an partner collaboration role
Experience with Red Hat OpenShift and Red Hat CoreOS
Experience with Linux system programming (network communication, shared memory, process initiation, etc.), in a programing or scripting language
Familiarity with using, supporting, or troubleshooting cloud-native network functions (CNFs)
Telco-specific knowledge and experience including:
High availability
Performance characterization and optimization
Network functions virtualization (NFV) architecture (High performance networking technologies)
Telco Operator Edge designs
RAN architecture, O-RAN, FlexRAN
This role may come into contact with confidential or sensitive customer information requiring special treatment in accordance with Red Hat policies and applicable privacy laws.
