Description and Requirements
Please note that the team has moved to a new location. The office is now at 121 Menachem Begin Road, Tel Aviv, 61st floor, in the POINT office complex. As per our office policy, you will be required to visit the site at least three times a week.
Lenovo Digital Trust Lab is looking for a Research Manager to lead a team building AI-powered security agents. You will own the team's mission end-to-end — from hiring and developing talent to setting the research agenda and shipping production-grade agents. This role sits at the intersection of security engineering and frontier AI, partnering closely with technical leadership across detection, AppSec, IR, and platform teams.
Key Responsibilities
Build, develop, and retain a high-performing team of engineers and researchers; set clear goals, growth paths, and performance expectations
Own the team's roadmap — translate organizational priorities into a focused research and engineering agenda with healthy delivery pace
Partner with Staff and senior engineers on architectural and evaluation decisions that shape the agentic security platform
Remove blockers, manage cross-team dependencies, and protect team focus and momentum
Define and uphold standards for research rigor — evaluation discipline, safety, reliability, and reproducibility across all shipped agents
Collaborate with detection, AppSec, IR, and platform leadership to identify high-leverage opportunities and align on priorities
Represent the team to senior leadership — communicate strategy, progress, risks, and resourcing needs with clarity
Track frontier model releases and emerging techniques; translate relevant developments into concrete team bets
Requirements
BSc in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience; advanced degree (MSc/PhD) in CS, Cybersecurity, or a related field is an advantage
4+ years managing engineers or researchers, or extensive tech-lead experience with demonstrated readiness to step into people management
4+ years of software development experience with a track record of delivering production systems or research outcomes in a team setting
Solid security engineering foundations: vulnerability research, exploitation techniques across web apps/APIs/enterprise systems, threat modeling, and security best practices across cloud, on-prem, and SaaS environments
Working knowledge of autonomous AI agents — planning, tool use, multi-step reasoning, error recovery — and how they operate in production; familiarity with orchestration frameworks (LangChain, CrewAI, or custom planners)
Hands-on experience with prompting, RAG, context engineering, and the agentic tooling ecosystem (MCP, memory systems, skills)
Experience designing evaluations for non-deterministic systems — benchmarks, regression suites, observability — and treating evals as a first-class engineering discipline
Strong communication in English (written and verbal), with the ability to set direction and drive alignment across technical and non-technical stakeholders
