Application Engineer

Department: Marketing and Business Development Reports to: Application Engineering Manager

Role and Responsibilities:

This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of physics, electro-optics, hardware, firmware, software and real-world system deployment. You will gain exposure to advanced imaging technologies, interdisciplinary engineering, and global customer engagement. This is a system-oriented Application Engineering role combining hands-on integration, customer engagement, and product feedback in advanced electro-optical systems.

Serve as a technical focal point for customer-specific application development and system integration.

Support field evaluation and testing of electro-optical modules, including infrared / thermal imaging systems, across various platforms.

Develop and maintain application-level documentation and integration guidelines.

Collaborate closely with all the internal functions in the organization, including R&D, Project Managers, Marketing and Product Management, Business Units and Operations, to ensure robust and reliable application performance.

Conduct on-site and remote technical support, training, and troubleshooting activities with domestic and international customers.

Conduct initial failure analysis and support in-depth investigations.

Participate in customers’ systems design and product validation.

Provide feedback to internal design and product development teams to enhance product usability and performance in real-world conditions.

Serve as application engineering point of contact in R&D phases of products development, providing customers’ point of view for developing the right product.

Background requirements:

B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Electro-Optics, or a closely related engineering discipline.

M.Sc. is considered a strong advantage.

Minimum 3 years of experience in similar role or 5 years of experience in relevant industry.

Proven proficiency in at least two of the following domains: Electro-Optical System Engineering

Electronic Circuitry and Embedded Systems

Opto-Mechanical Integration

Image Processing and Signal Analysis

Embedded Software Development

Experience with semiconductor-based imaging devices, sensors, or mixed-signal systems is a strong advantage

Skillset Requirements:

Strong system-level thinking with an end-to-end project execution approach.

Demonstrated analytical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and presentation abilities – mandatory.

Highly developed interpersonal and teamwork capabilities – mandatory.

Capable of operating independently in multi-tasking environments.

Customer-centric attitude, with a proactive, accountable work style.

Hands-on programming/scripting skills (e.g., MATLAB, Python) – advantageous.

Fluency in English, both spoken and written – mandatory.

Willingness and ability to travel occasionally for customer support and integration tasks.
