Sr. Full Stack Developer

About The Position

We’re looking for a Senior Full Stack Developer with a strong backend focus (around 70% backend / 30% frontend) to join our growing platform engineering team. You’ll serve as a technical lead, helping shape the architecture, scalability, and performance of our platform, while mentoring other developers and raising our engineering standards.

In this role, you’ll work across the stack — primarily with Nest.js on the backend and React on the frontend — to design, build, and optimize systems that power advanced data-driven applications. You’ll collaborate closely with product and research teams to translate ideas into robust, maintainable, and performant software.

Responsibilities
Design and implement backend APIs using Nest.js, integrating with data layers and external systems.
Contribute to and review frontend features in React, ensuring seamless integration with backend services.
Architect scalable systems and drive performance improvements across services and infrastructure.
Help design and shape the product, working closely with product managers, bioinformaticians, and other stakeholders to align technical decisions with product goals.
Mentor and support other developers through code reviews, internal discussions, clean code and technical guidance.
Collaborate cross-functionally with product, data, and infrastructure teams to define requirements and deliver solutions.
Write and maintain technical documentation and high-level designs.

Requirements
7+ years of experience as a full-stack or backend-focused developer.
Proficiency in Node.js / Nest.js and experience with scalable API design.
Strong understanding of distributed systems, performance optimization, and cloud architectures.
Experience leading projects or mentoring engineers — you enjoy helping others grow.
Hands-on experience with modern frontend frameworks, preferably React.
Strong communication and planning skills, with the ability to provide technical input during project scoping.
Track record of delivering efficiently in agile teams with shifting priorities.
Proactive mindset — someone who can take ownership, identify problems, and propose solutions.
Advantages
Experience with Python or R for data-related workflows.
Background in data-intensive systems or bioinformatics.
Familiarity with multi-cloud environments (GCP + AWS).
