We are looking for a Head of the Legal Department & Data Protection officer to join us. As head of legal you will be responsible for providing ongoing legal advice on diverse subjects to all bank departments, including supporting the development of new products in collaboration with the technology team, supporting existing products, and responding to customer inquiries.As DPO you will be responsible for ensuring the bank's compliance with privacy legislation including preparedness for legislative changes. This includes conducting a gap analysis and creating a plan to address these gaps, implementing audits, and managing training and integration programs in collaboration with the organization's Information Security Officer.
Responsibilities:
Serve as legal advisor to all departments on variety legal matters.
Offer legal guidance for the development of new products, ensuring compliance with applicable laws.
Support ongoing legal operations, including contract negotiation, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
Manage legal disputes, represent the company in legal proceedings, and coordinate with external counsel as needed.
Act as the Data Protection Officer, maintaining compliance with data privacy laws and regulations.
Collaborate with IT and Security teams to manage data protection processes, ensuring security measures align with legal requirements.
Lead the organizations response to new privacy regulations, keeping abreast of legislative developments.
Develop and implement privacy training programs across the bank, promoting data privacy awareness.
Draft, review, and implement internal policies that govern legal and privacy practices, ensuring they reflect current laws and best practices.

8+ Years of relevant experience.
Relevant experience from the Financial sector, with previous experience in a technology company or experience working closely with a technology department in a large organization. Experience in the world of Banking - A major advantage.
LLB - Mandatory. LLM - An advantage.
Relevant certification as a Data Protection Officer.
Skills & knowledge:
Previous experience in the world of banking.
Strong understanding of data privacy laws and corporate compliance.
Extensive knowledge in information security and expertise in privacy law.
Exceptional ability to work independently.
Excellence in creating new infrastructure from scratch.
Initiator, thorough with an ability to meet deadlines and in the best quality of work.
Strong interpersonal skills.
