The Institute of Agricultural Engineering seeks a postdoc/PhD student with a background in process simulation and optimization, to work on developing a Decision Support system for maximizing profits in Hydroponics systems. The project is part of an international collaboration between several research groups, and funded by the PRIMA Foundation.
Responsibilities:
Collect and process data from hydroponics labs.
Develop a simulation model for crop growth in hydroponics.
Develop a Decision Support system based on simulation-optimization.
Manage a multidisciplinary research project from conception through publication.
Acquire new skills and knowledge as required to carry out the research project.
Meet weekly for updates on the progress.
The position is initially for one year and can be extended to 1-2 additional years based on performance and mutual agreement in case of a postdoc. Interested and qualified candidates should send a CV to us.

Ph.D. in Engineering, Statistics, or Applied Math.
A strong and proven background in programming is required.
A background in plant physiology is an advantage.
A solid publication track.
Ability to read scientific literature.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Ability to take initiative and work independently.
A love and passion for scientific research.
