‍Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Thermal, mechanical, electro-chemical and other simulations of Li-ion cells up to product form factor: use of existing pre-developed tools and approaches, as well as developing new ones.
Develop and cell diagnostic tests and procedures, including automated data analysis tools, for the goal of model refinement, calibration, and validation.
Model and simulation supported experimental research and characterization of Thermal/Resistance/Mechanical/Safety cell level performance.
Analyze test results, detect issues and perform root cause analysis, using simulations.
Design of experiments (DoE) for finding the optimal cell parameters, directed by in-house developed cell simulations.

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

MSc with at least 3 years of industry experience in: Electrochemical-related field (Physics, Chemistry, Chem. Eng., EE, Materials Eng. or similar), specializing in heat transfer modeling and analysis of electrochemical systems - preferably Li-ion batteries.
Proven ability and experience in modeling and analysis of cell internal resistance, and related thermal assessment.
Experience with FEM based analysis using COMSOL Multiphysics.
Programing skills in: Python, MATLAB or similar.
Analytical mindset and product-oriented approach: proven ability for end-to-end analyses.
Team player, able to share specific knowledge and insights, and their value, to others.
Advantage:
- Thermal, mechanical, and electrical modeling of energy storage systems (major advantage).
- Electrochemical / mass transfer (diffusion, incl. tortuosity) modeling abilities (major advantage).
- Experience with Li ion battery cells, especially thermal & electrochemical tests.
- Thermal runaway and propagation modeling.
- Experience with automated scripts for testing and analysis.
- Working in an Agile environment.
