About AMHSI Alexander Muss High School in Israel (AMHSI) is a pluralistic, Zionist, academic study-abroad program that seeks strengthen Jewish identity and fosters connection to the Jewish people, the land, and the State of Israel. Position Overview: The School Psychologist at AMHSI plays a critical role in supporting the emotional, social, and academic wellbeing of high school students participating in immersive, residential educational programs. The psychologist works closely with educational staff, student life teams, parents, and external professionals to ensure a safe, supportive, and developmentally appropriate environment for all students.

Location: Hod Hasharon, Israel Reports to: Director of Student Life

This is a full-time position, including at least 2 evenings a week

Key Responsibilities:

o Student Support & Assessment

o Provide short-term, solution-focused individual counselling to students.

o Identify and assess students in need of emotional or psychological support.

o Recommend external support services when long-term therapy or further valuation is required.

Staff Support & Guidance

o Facilitate workshops and group discussions on well-being, resilience, and healthy relationships.

o Support staff in managing behavioural or emotional challenges among students; Provide consultation and training where needed.

o Work with Madrichim to ensure healthy, positive and productive teamwork and cooperation

o Support staff training related to youth mental health and wellbeing.

Crisis Intervention & Safeguarding

o Respond to student crises and provide immediate psychological first aid.

o Collaborate with relevant staff in managing emergency mental health situations.

o Support the implementation of safety plans and appropriate documentation.

Collaboration & Communication

o Serve as a resource for teachers, counsellors, and house staff regarding student mental health and behaviour.

o Participate in regular student review meetings and contribute psychological insight to care plans.

o Communicate with parents or guardians, when necessary, while maintaining appropriate confidentiality.

Program & Prevention Work

o Develop and facilitate preventative mental health programming, including workshops and awareness sessions.

o Provide consultation and training where needed.

o Promote social-emotional learning initiatives aligned with AMHSI's educational philosophy.

o Support staff training related to youth mental health and wellbeing.

Documentation & Compliance

o Maintain accurate and confidential student records.

o Ensure compliance with local regulations and AMHSI policies regarding student mental health services.

o Building and adjusting protocols for social-emotional well-being

Pre-Program Preparation:

o Review of student information prior to arrival, including examination of relevant documents to assess their emotional and social wellbeing.

o Preparation, as needed, to provide support for students requiring additional assistance.

o Guidance for staff (teachers, Madrichim, and administrative teams) regarding any exceptional matters that require special attention or consideration.

Qualifications:

o Bachelor's degree in social work / Master's degree or higher in Psychology, Educational Psychology, or Clinical Psychology.

o Licensed or certified to practice psychology / social working in Israel.

o Minimum 3 years of experience working with adolescents in educational or therapeutic settings.

o Experienced working with groups

o Experience in multicultural or English-speaking environments preferred.

o Fluent in English (spoken and written); Hebrew proficiency is an advantage.

o Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.

o Ability to work independently, handle sensitive issues with discretion, and respond to urgent situations calmly and professionally.
