What you need to know about the role- We seek a Machine Learning Engineer who is comfortable delivering an end-to-end solution, from research and prompt engineering to service implementation and integration, to join PayPal’s ML engineering organization in Tel Aviv, Israel. Meet our team The team builds a feature engineering assistant as part of the feature engineering group. We aim to build a GenAi agent that can reduce load from engineers and data scientists, streamline processes in the feature engineering domain, and improve efficiency. The team is developing the agent and the underlying framework that support many capabilities such as text generation, search, feature generation, and API automation.

Your way to impact

As a Machine Learning Engineer, you will assume a lead role in a team that develops a GenAi assistant agent, helping PayPal’s data scientists, decision scientists, and analysts generate more impact more efficiently. This high-profile position requires great coding skills, a deep understanding of the LLM domain, and collaboration with cross-functional teams, including engineers, product managers, and ML scientists.

Your day-to-day

As a Machine Learning Engineer, you will be responsible for:

Fine-tune prompts for performing various tasks using the newest LLM models (Llama, Gemini, etc.)

Research and implement the latest methods like RAG and few shot prompting to enhance model performance

Take part in designing and developing the agent framework, including Api services, relational and vector databases

Mentor and guide members of the team

Influence the team’s roadmap and priorities

Closely collaborate with Product managers, ML scientist internal customers, and ML engineers to build an end-to-end solution that supports PayPal business initiatives

What do you need to bring

B.Sc. / M.Sc. or equivalent experience in a quantitative field (Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, etc.)

Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in AI/ML domain

At least 1 year of experience with LLM models

experience with RAG and pipeline tools like LangChain – an advantage

Experience with backend development in Python or similar language

Experience demonstrating technical leadership working with teams, owning projects, defining and setting technical direction for projects

Experience working in a multi-culture and multi-location organizations – an advantage

Team player, responsible, delivery-oriented, details-oriented

Outstanding communication skills

Excellent spoken and written English
