Stamping Shift Leader - Lansing Stamping

Job DescriptionOnsite: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Lansing Regional Stamping Facility on a full-time basis.The Role:As the Stamping Shift Leader, you will provide leadership for Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE) for the total press shop. You will also provide direction and assistance to salaried Group Leaders. This position requires the ability to rotate shifts every 3 months.What You'll Do (Responsibilities):Knowledge of total stamping production processCommunicate effectively across all shiftsChampion of allocated BPD activitiesDiscuss weekly production plans with production controlAdjust schedule as needed to solve production problemsAllocate manpower as needed for each press line; plan release for trainingMaintain shift safety by audits, observation and follow up of all incidentsMaintain and improve machine up time. Prevent recurrence of breakdown causesEnsure TPM program is on trackDiscuss major downtime causes with maintenance weekly and request corrective actionSign off standardized work charts. Agree with all shiftsLead shift meetings for SPQRCEReport shift status to the Operations ManagerCoach and mentor Group LeadersEnsure GMS is being followedUnderstand and comply with the terms of local and national labor agreementsEnsure cost controls achieves budget needsSupport area manager to resolve manpower issues in conjunction with unionLiaise with customers for quality problems and co-ordinate countermeasuresRotate shifts as neededAdditional Job DescriptionYour Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications):5 years of manufacturing experienceBachelor's degree or equivalent experienceLeadership experienceKnowledge of basic stamping and manufacturing processesHigh level of analytical ability and interpersonal skillsHighly developed oral and written communication skillsAbility to rotate shiftsAbility to work overtime as neededWhat Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):5+ years of manufacturing experienceExperience working in a stamping plantMaster's degreeKnowledge of and coaching experiences in Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS)Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related areaExperience working in a union facilityGM DOES NOT PROVIDE IMMIGRATION-RELATED SPONSORSHIP FOR THIS ROLE.
