Director of Student Life

Overview:

Alexander Muss High School in Israel (AMHSI-JNF) is a pluralistic, academic, study abroad program that strengthens our students' Jewish identity, inspiring them to explore their connection to Israel through formal and experiential educational opportunities. By transforming Israel into a living classroom and offering a robust, integrated curriculum, we aim to develop and foster within our teens a passion for lifelong learning and leadership, giving them the tools and the confidence to impact their communities worldwide.

The Director of Student Life is responsible for the overall student life experience at AMHSI. The role leads student safety, well-being, extracurricular and informal educational programming, and the day-to-day systems that support student life outside the classroom.

The Director of Student Life directly manages the madrichim, nurse, social worker, and Av Bayit as part of the Student Life team, and works closely with school leadership and relevant departments to ensure a safe, caring, well-run, and educationally meaningful student experience.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Student safety, well-being, and support

a.Ensure a safe, healthy, and supportive student environment

b. Oversee student welfare, emotional support, accommodations, and special cases

c. Support student discipline and follow-up in coordination with school leadership

d. Participate in crisis response, risk management, and on-call support as needed

2. Student Life programming and educational design

a. Lead the planning and implementation of student life and informal educational programming

b. Develop extracurricular, evening, Shabbat, and special programming

c. Help ensure that student life programming supports student growth and the school's educational mission

d. Coordinate student life elements for different groups and program needs

3. Staff leadership and team development

a. Directly manage and develop the madrichim, nurse, social worker, and Av Bayit as part of the Student Life team

b. Lead staff onboarding, training, guidance, and ongoing development

c. Set clear expectations and help maintain high standards of care, professionalism, and student support

d. Foster a strong, collaborative Student Life team culture

4. Systems, communication, and student experience oversight

a. Oversee key student life systems, including dorm life, sign-out, home hospitality, and general standards of care

b. Help ensure a high-quality student experience across daily life, activities, and support systems

c. Oversee parent communication related to student life matters on campus, with the "Av Bayit" taking a leading role in individual parent

communication and special cases

d. Work closely with other departments to ensure coordination and follow-through

e. Contribute to planning, review, financial reporting, and continuous improvement of Student Life work

Qualifications:

· * 3+ years of experience in Informal education, youth programming, or related educational settings

· * Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills

· * Experience in supervising staff and building teams

· * Fluent English and Hebrew

· * Relevant academic background in Education, Informal Education, Psychology, Social Work, Social Sciences, or a related field. BA, MA preferred

· * Digital savvy, and comfort working with systems and platforms, is an advantage

· * Willingness to work flexible hours as needed
