Embedded Software Engineer

Description
We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Embedded Software Engineer to join our R&D team and contribute to the development of IRP’s current and next-generation electric mobility products.
In this role, you will develop embedded firmware that closely interfaces with hardware and plays a key role in product performance and functionality. You will be involved throughout the full development lifecycle — from requirements, design, and implementation through integration, debugging, validation, and product release — working closely with Hardware, Power Electronics, Control, V&V, and other R&D teams.
This role is a great fit for an engineer who enjoys working close to the hardware, solving complex technical challenges, and taking ownership in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
Requirements

At least 4 years of hands-on experience in bare-metal programming in C.
B.Sc. in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
Experience with ARM architecture.
Strong understanding of embedded-system hardware peripherals and communication protocols.
Strong understanding of interrupt-driven embedded systems, memory and flash management, bootloaders, and low-level peripheral programming.
Hands-on experience debugging embedded systems using Logic Analyzers and Oscilloscopes.
Experience working with Git / GitHub.
Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently, take ownership, and manage multiple technical topics.
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

You’ll be responsible for the following

Design, develop, test, integrate, and maintain embedded firmware for current and next-generation electric mobility products.
Develop bare-metal firmware in C for ARM-based embedded systems.
Take part in the full development lifecycle, from requirements and design through implementation, integration, debugging, validation, and release.
Work closely with Hardware, Power Electronics, Control, V&V, and other R&D teams to develop and integrate multidisciplinary solutions.
Debug and troubleshoot firmware, hardware, and system-level issues using tools such as Logic Analyzers and Oscilloscopes.
Work with embedded peripherals and communication interfaces, including GPIO, ADC, DMA, UART, SPI, I2C, and CAN Bus.
Develop high-quality, reliable code using best practices, including unit testing.
Contribute to technical discussions, design decisions, and continuous improvement of development practices.
Work across multiple projects and technical topics in a dynamic R&D environment

Advantages

Experience in the automotive industry or with automotive ECUs.
Experience with motor-control and/or power electronics systems.
Experience with safety-critical systems and Functional Safety / ISO 26262.
Experience with MISRA-C and static analysis tools.
Experience with CAN / UDS diagnostics.
Background in electronics.
Experience with Cypress PSoC microcontrollers.
Experience with C++, C#, and/or Python.
Experience using Python for testing, automation, or development tools.
