Director of Duties and Taxes Operations

We seek Director to lead our international Tax and Duties group. This role is responsible for optimizing tax and duties efficiency, ensuring timely compliance, and mitigating tax and duties risks.

The ideal candidate will be a seasoned leader with a deep understanding of tax and duties laws, regulations, and best practices with very strong analytical capabilities and know how

Responsibilities

Tax and Duties Performance Management:

• Lead and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure tax and duties performance.
• Conduct regular tax and duties performance reviews and identify areas for improvement.
• Analyze tax and duties data to identify trends and opportunities for savings.

Tax and Duties Clearance:

• Oversee the tax and duties clearance process, ensuring timely and accurate completion of tax and duties returns and filings.
• Manage tax and duties audits and disputes, minimizing liabilities and penalties.

Classification Management:

• Lead ongoing management of e-commerce export controls, HS codes classification, e-commerce restrictions and tax impl cations associated.
• Lead the classification manager support company’s clients with ongoing ad-hoc product classification and restrictions.

Operational Excellence:

• Implement process improvements and automation to streamline tax and duties operations.
• Utilize technology to enhance tax and duties data analysis and classification teams.

Team and people Leadership:

• Build and develop a high-performing tax and duties team.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to managers and team members.
• Foster a culture of compliance, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

• BA/B.Sc. in Economics, Law, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent quantitative field. 
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in tax and duties, with a strong focus on performance and clearance.
• Minimum 4 years’ experience in managerial position (managing managers/several teams).
• Strong proficiency in MS Excel and SQL with experience in querying large, complex data sets 
• Analytical; Comfortable digging through data, manipulating it in excel, and drawing out impactful insights.
• In-depth knowledge of tax and duties laws, regulations, and best practices- a plus
• Experience working in a fast-paced global environment with the ability to lead multiple projects and relationships with changing and/or competing priorities.
• Proven leadership and team management skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Working in a global environment is a plus.
