NanoScout is a FoodTech company operating within the Fresh Start incubator. The company develops AI-driven software paired with advanced microscopy protocols to detect contaminants for the food and beverage industry.
Location: Kiryat Shmona, Israel (Fresh Start FoodTech Incubator)

Job Description:
NanoScout is seeking a full-time, hands-on, collaborative, and detail-oriented MSc Microbiologist & Researcher to join our biological-R&D team in Kiryat Shmona. In this role, you will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to design and optimize experimental protocols for microorganisms imaging and detection.
The position is expected to start at the beginning of October.

Key Responsibilities:
-Design, execute, and validate microbiology and assay protocols for contaminant detection in food matrices.
-Develop, optimize, and standardize complex sample preparation workflows for microscopic analysis.
-Execute high-resolution structural characterization and imaging using SEM and light microscopy platforms.
-Analyze experimental data, troubleshoot biological protocols, and document findings systematically.
-Collaborate daily with the cross-functional R&D team- including software
and algorithm engineers, and to integrate biological workflows with AI analysis algorithms.
-Maintain laboratory equipment, standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety standards, and inventory.

Requirements & Qualifications:
-Education: M.Sc. in Microbiology, Micology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or a related discipline.
-Core Experience: Proven hands-on experience in classical and molecular microbiology techniques, culturing, sample prep, and assay development.
-Technical Skills: Strong background in experimental design, quantitative data analysis, and laboratory protocol optimization.
-Soft Skills: Outstanding team player with strong interpersonal skills, highly analytical, detail-oriented, independent problem solver with fluent technical English communication skills.

Advantages (Nice-to-Have):
-Hands-on experience in advanced microscopy techniques, specifically Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and optical microscopy (brightfield and fluorescence).
-Background in yeast microbiology, including culturing, yeast morphology, and sample preparation techniques.
-Prior experience in the FoodTech, food diagnostics, or medical devices industries.
-Familiarity with image analysis workflows or working alongside computer vision and AI engineering teams.
