Delivery Supervisor – 2nd Shift

$52,000–$58,000/yr | 2nd shift, 3:00 PM–12:00 AM (midnight)

Responsibilities

• Supervise a team of 4 loaders and manage late-afternoon truck loading until it is done
• Lead the night delivery crew on-site through the shift; occasional on-call after
• Oversee drivers as they arrive and start their work
• Manage the team to established routing rules and route sheets
• Review each day's delivery volume, store list and routes; know who is going where and when Receive a handoff from the day-shift Distribution leaders at the start of each shift
• Make day-of route adjustments with approval from day leadership Confirm rack pickup assignments for each driver
• Prepare pre-shift meeting materials, manifests and training content
• Set up the yard: stage trucks at the dock doors and position the first departures up front
• Run a 5-minute pre-shift meeting twice a night as drivers begin their shift: weather, road conditions, construction, route review, rack pickups, special delivery notes, safety reminders and company updates
• Oversee departures for routes throughout Texas, both out-of-Houston and local; move and reposition trucks in the yard
• Decide whether a late-arriving driver still runs their route or is sent home Give random breathalyzer tests
• Check in with drivers by phone or text during their routes; be the first call for driver issues and escalate as needed Hand off to the morning Distribution leaders at the end of each shift (email or note): late or sent-home drivers, issues escalated, truck and equipment status, open items
• Meet weekly with Distribution leadership on route performance, driver issues, scheduling and upcoming volume
  
  

• 2 years of supervisory experience
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record Comfortable moving tractor-trailers and box trucks in a yard Able to work 3:00 PM–12:00 AM, with occasional on-call Able to pass a background check and drug screen
• Basic computer and phone skills: email, route sheets, text
• Able to work outdoors in all weather and be on your feet for the shift
• Preferred
• Bilingual in Spanish and English
• Experience supervising drivers, a dock crew or a loading crew Transportation, delivery or logistics background
• Knowledge of Texas highways and the Houston area Familiarity with DOT and driver safety practices
