Modem Architecture and Modeling Engineer

General Summary

We are looking for an engineer with strong System Modeling and System-Level Analysis skills to drive the exploration, development, and evaluation of new modem concepts and architectures.

The role focuses on developing models that enable early evaluation of architectural alternatives, quantifying trade-offs, and supporting data-driven hardware architecture decisions.

The ideal candidate will bring a broad system-level perspective and a solid understanding of the interactions between Software, Firmware, and Hardware. Working closely with architecture and design teams, you will translate new concepts into models, evaluate alternative approaches, identify system-level constraints and opportunities, and validate architectural assumptions before implementation.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop system-level models to explore new concepts and architectural options.
• Analyze and quantify trade-offs involving performance, complexity, power consumption, and implementation considerations.
• Understand and model interactions across SW, FW, and HW boundaries.
• Use modeling and simulation to validate assumptions, identify bottlenecks, and support hardware architecture decisions.
• Collaborate with architecture, HW, FW, and SW teams to translate modeling insights into practical design recommendations.
• Prototype and evaluate selected concepts where modeling can reduce implementation risks or accelerate technical decisions.

Minimum Qualifications

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Solid understanding of Computer Architecture and System Design.
• Solid understanding of Wireless Communications and Modem Systems.
• Experience working across HW/SW boundaries.
• Experience with C/C++ and modeling or simulation environments.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to independently investigate complex technical challenges.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with LTE/5G, particularly PHY and modem systems.
• Understanding of CPU architecture, memory hierarchy, caching, and system performance.
• Experience with MATLAB-based modeling and simulation.
• Python programming experience.
• Background in hardware or logic design.
• Experience in performance modeling and architectural trade-off analysis.
