About the role:

We are looking for a Product Engineer: a mechanical engineer who moved into software development and now wants to build the tool they wished they had. You bring deep, hands-on mechanical engineering knowledge together with real coding experience, and you use both every day.

The profile we have in mind is someone who spent years as a mechanical engineer in a serious engineering organization, got curious about (or bored without) code, made the move to software development, and did real development work there.

What you will do:

• Define, build, and ship product features that solve real mechanical engineering problems, from the first idea through working code
• Bring domain expertise into the product: translate how engineers actually design, analyze, and document into what Leo should do
• Validate the product against real engineering use cases, including CAD, simulation, and documentation workflows
• Work closely with customer-facing teams to understand what engineers in the field need and turn it into prioritized product work
• Own your projects end to end: scope them, make decisions, and deliver without needing step-by-step direction

What we are looking for:

• B.Sc. or higher in Mechanical Engineering
• 5+ years of hands-on mechanical engineering experience, with deep engineering knowledge you can apply on your own without guidance
• A real transition from mechanical engineering into software: you have worked as a software developer, written production code, and shipped it, not only scripts or side projects
• Real software development experience
• Fluent with AI coding agents and comfortable using them as a regular part of your workflow
• Independent: you know what needs to be done, you are given real freedom in how you work and you use it responsibly, and you take ownership of your area while staying aligned with the teams around you
• A strong team player who communicates clearly and works well with product, R&D, and customer-facing colleagues

Nice to have:

• Experience as a team lead, group manager, or mechanical engineering department manager
• Formal training in software engineering (a degree, certificate, or structured program)
• Experience building developer tools, engineering software, or CAD/PLM integrations
• Experience in a startup environment
