Lead software engineer / Hands-on Software Architect (Stealth ConTech Startup)

About the Role:

An early-stage ConTech startup (operating in stealth mode) is looking for a Lead Developer / Hands-on Software Architect to lead our core engine development, spatial algorithms, and overall system architecture.

We are solving a major, high-impact engineering challenge in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry—sitting at the intersection of 3D spatial algorithms, computational optimization, and real-time distributed systems.

Founded by an experienced industry engineer, the startup already has an initial client-facing prototype in place. We are now looking for an experienced technical leader with strong architectural vision and deep algorithmic chops to take ownership of the core system, lead the technology roadmap, and mentor/guide our existing development team in a hands-on capacity.

Key Responsibilities:

- Architectural Leadership: Design a scalable, lightweight system combining a spatial algorithm engine, constraint-handling rules, and seamless integration between cloud services and engineering CAD/BIM environments.

- Core Algorithmic Development (Hands-on): Personally architect and develop the core logic for 3D pathfinding, spatial collision detection, and multi-variable optimization.

- Team Guidance & Code Quality: Define technical milestones, break down architectural challenges into actionable tasks, conduct code reviews, and guide our existing developer (who focuses on client integrations and BIM APIs).

- Advanced Technology Integration: Evaluate and incorporate AI/Generative Design methodologies alongside deterministic, rule-based engineering engines.

Requirements:

- Proven Architectural Track Record (5+ years): Substantial experience designing complex software architectures, with a deep understanding of performance optimization, multi-threading, and real-time event-driven communication (WebSockets, pub/sub).

- Spatial & Algorithmic Foundations: Strong practical experience in computational geometry, 3D spatial algorithms, graph search/pathfinding (A*, Dijkstra), or game/physics engine mechanics.

- Hands-on Mastery in at least one of the following domains:

- C# / .NET: Solid experience in high-performance desktop or service backends (experience with Revit API or engineering CAD plugins is a major advantage).

- 3D Graphics / Spatial Computing: Hands-on work with Three.js, WebGL, WebGPU, or processing open engineering formats (e.g., IFC).

- C++ / Mathematical Python: Experience developing simulation, geometry, or optimization engines.

- Technical Mentorship: Prior experience as a Tech Lead, Team Lead, or Software Architect—able to mentor junior/mid-level engineers and turn complex concepts into clear execution steps.

- Startup Mindset: Highly autonomous, comfortable navigating ambiguity, proactive problem-solver, and excited by zero-to-one challenges.
