Data Systems Analyst & Developer (5491)

About the Role

A leading insurance company is seeking an experienced Data Systems Analyst & Developer for a hybrid role combining 50% systems analysis and 50% hands-on development. The position combines aspects of Data Engineering and Data Analysis, with end-to-end responsibility for translating business requirements into technical specifications, developing data solutions, and deploying them to production.

Key Responsibilities

• Work directly with business stakeholders and clients to gather, analyze, and define requirements.
• Write detailed functional and technical specifications.
• Develop and maintain ETL/ELT processes and data integration solutions.
• Write complex SQL queries and optimize database performance.
• Design data models and DWH structures.
• Work end-to-end, from requirements gathering and analysis through development, testing, and production deployment.
• Collaborate with development, QA, infrastructure, and business teams.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in both data systems analysis and development.
• Strong SQL skills, including complex queries and performance optimization.
• Hands-on experience developing and maintaining ETL processes – mandatory.
• Proven ability to gather business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Experience working with relational and non-relational databases.
• Strong understanding of data modeling, Star Schema, and normalization.
• Experience working independently within a team in a large enterprise environment.
• Cloud environment experience – an advantage.
