Head of Engineering

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on engineering leader with strong management skills to lead people and processes across Engineering, Data, QA, and DevOps, partner with Product Managers, and take ownership of engineering quality and delivery while remaining involved in coding every day.

You will work closely with the CTO to modernize Irani Group’s technology infrastructure while building the next generation of AI-powered fashion experiences within F54 AI Labs.

Key Responsibilities

• Engineering delivery: Translate priorities into a clear execution plan, remove blockers, and ensure the team meets its delivery goals.
• Hands-on development: Write code, build new capabilities, review pull requests, troubleshoot production issues, and solve complex technical challenges.
• Technical design and code quality: Own technical design and implementation, partnering with the CTO on broader architectural decisions.
• Development and delivery processes: Establish and improve testing, CI/CD, release management, documentation, monitoring, and incident response.
• AI-assisted development: Integrate AI tools into the team’s daily workflows while maintaining quality, security, and thorough validation of their outputs.
• Business solutions: Build commerce infrastructure, integrations, and AI-powered capabilities that address customer and organizational needs.
• People leadership and cross-functional management: Manage, mentor, and develop engineers, data professionals, QA and DevOps specialists, and Product Managers. Set goals, provide feedback, and lead hiring and onboarding.
• Stakeholder collaboration: Work with business stakeholders, technology partners, and external vendors to move projects forward.

What We’re Looking For

• Extensive experience developing and deploying production systems, including recent, hands-on coding experience.
• Experience as an Engineering Manager or Head of Engineering, with responsibility for people management, technical planning, execution, and delivery.
• The ability to own a feature end to end—from understanding the business need through design and development to production deployment.
• A solid understanding of system design, APIs, integrations, databases, and cloud environments.
• Hands-on experience with AI-powered development tools and the ability to evaluate the quality of their outputs.
• Experience building LLM-powered capabilities, AI agents, or RAG solutions—a significant advantage.
• Experience in e-commerce, retail, fintech, marketplaces, or customer-facing systems—an advantage.
• Strong management skills, including team building, employee development, goal setting, delegation, prioritization, decision-making, and managing cross-team relationships and dependencies.
• Strong communication skills, personal accountability, and the ability to balance delivery speed with quality.
• A builder’s mindset: A drive to build and solve problems yourself, alongside the ability to lead the team and help it succeed.
